In spring-summer 2021, I organized a virtual brownbag series to discuss recent working papers on econometric methods, focusing on advances in the difference in difference and event study literatures and implications for applied microeconomics research. These were open to, and attended by, faculty and graduate students from all over the world. Below I list the papers we discuss, as well as link to the slides I summarizing the papers for the discussion. I also organized "clinics" where folks with specific questions/issues could bring these to the reading group to get advice. Thanks also to Yulya Truskinovsky and David Burgherr for their help in organizing and understanding the papers!
There will be another set of these discussions in July 2022! These will be Thursday July 7 11am-noon MT, Wednesday July 13 12:30-1:30pm MT, and Thursday July 21 11am-noon MT. Sign up with the form below to get added to the email list and get the zoom links.
I have created a visual guide to explain different research designs, potential problems with estimating two-way fixed-effects, and potential solutions: https://www.chloeneast.com/uploads/8/9/9/7/8997263/visual_guide.pdf
